Kali Yoga When India gained its independence in the mid-20Th century, it found itself faced with not less than 30 calendars, differing in when the era and year it began. This diversity had its roots in the nation's history. About 3,000 B.C. , a calendar called the Kali Yoga came into use from it came the regional diversity throughout the subcontinent. The Kali age started when the spring equinox drifted out of Tauras and entered the constellation Krttika - Pleiades. These regional calendars survived the introduction of the different calendars imposed by the Muslim's and the British (Gregorian calendar). After India's independence these regional calendars based on the Kale Yoga where utilized. Each state of India had its own civil calendar of local origin which was used by the rural population. The date we know as March 2, 1957 , would be called Chaitra 7 in Bengal and Chaitra 8 in Orissa, and Phalguna 8 in the south. All these calendars of India are a type of solar measurement, based on the Kali Yoga an astronomical measurements made in accordance with astrological methods. The Indian astrologers used the same symbols and many of the same principals as do astrologers of the western world today having 12 month, each month having a Zodiac sign. Each sign contains 30 degrees the signs start with 0 degrees and runs through to 29deg. 59'59" before entering the next sign unlike our Months the new month can not start until the sun or moon actually enters the next sign. The constellation Chaitra (the start spring equinox) is Virgo at the 14Th hour degree,it is now at the first hour degree in Asvin , Chaitra the constellation starts approximately 23 degrees from our 12th hour degree. The first Karna is in Jyestha - Alpha Scorpionis (Antares) 23 degrees from the 16th hour degrees (the radius of the procession). The early Indian calendar used the precession of the equinox because it naturally kept time and ran through the constellations and is now Chaitra in line with Druva the pole star Polaris (Polaris was used as the pole star even in the Veda when it was no where near the actual pole). This calendar used Druva to fix the actual pole by using a 90 degree angle that starts at the Northern ecliptic pole (the center of the precession) making Jyestha and Pusya Cancer the ends of the 90 degree lines (the spring and fall Equinox 65thousand years ago one quarter of the precession and Chaitra was the summer equinox than). Citraratha is the polar star (dhruva), Dhruva-cyut means "moving" dhrauva being the ladle called Dhruva (the end of the ladle today ), Dhruvaka the unchangeable longitude of fixed stars; a post, Diz a thequarter or region pointed at , direction, cardinal point: often 8 are given i.e. the 4 cardinal and the 4 intermediate quarters%{dhruva}. The Indus Valley seals used these star constellations images to represent their hieroglyphs. The Glyphs change their meaning with a determinant just like Sumerian hieroglyphs but unlike the Sumerian script the Indus is more structured in the rules of an early Guna system. The other part of the seals are a pictorial image that is in accordance with the Siddhantatattva for presentations of offerings to the various deity's at different times of the year, for Vishn2u (never a living sacrifice) it was rice , milk , fruits &c. and for S3iva or Durga1 a living victim was offered. The most used image is a unicorn EkazRGga; being of singular eminence , pre-eminent , unicorn , N. of Vishn2u. Bali is a buffalo: tribute , offering , gift , obligation , tax , impost , royal revenue , this time of the year (tax time or harvest time) had an early offering of a fragment of food thrown into the sacred fire this is one of those rare double sacrifices of both Vishn2u and Durga1, the living victim (often a goat or Buffalo). On the seals the buffalo bows his head in front of a vessel made of buffalo horns KhaDgapatra a vessel formed of buffalo's horns. The buffalo image is still Vishn2u who took the son of Virocana's kingdom or empire over in three steps Around 2,550 B.C. the Vedic culture had its Brahmani revolution that changed the times of all sacrifices, Vishn2u at this time acquired all the heavens in three steps leaving Pa1ta1la the hide quarter of the ecliptic. Pa1ta1la than got divided into the seven regions under the earth saptapatAla , PatAla 7 regions under the earth and the abode of the Na1gas or serpents and demons. The Indus copper plates are the last changes in this evolution to a route in the decipherment of the script. The plates like the seals have writing and a pictorial image, many seals have the same picture combination writing as the plates. In this recent work on the plates I started with thought they where connected to a planetary calendar , my reasoning was that glyphs found on a tin ingot and glyphs found on other metal associated objects had the same names as names of planets and it is probable the images do represent both, only it was not a planetary calendar but a bell like instrument (ghaNTAkarNa) used to ward of evil spirits, these spirits where worshiped for exemption from them in the month of Caitra (spring) most are attendants of S3iva or Kubera and Sakanda, they are a type of chime struck for telling time. ghaNta a bell a plate of iron or mixed metal struck as a clock. KaMsa %{ayas-kaMsa} a metal white copper , brass , bell-metal identified with Asura Ka1lanemi , kaMsya brass , a kind of musical instrument (a sort of gong or plate of bell-metal struck with a stick or rod. I first found the names on the plates through word associations for instance I first found Bhdrapata (two glyphs Bhdra-Pata) glyphs in the visual image of that constellation, then bhadra the glyph formed another compound in the word Kamsa-bhadra when I searched for this association I was searching for a word associated with metal, Kamsa is the main Sanskrit word for Bronze. I then found all the plates through association , these than turned out to be associated with the gandhavras. Guru (Tin) KiMnara , VAya , SuparNa (a horse) Pajcajana (tiger five claws) , raghavasiMha (a lion) Kamsa , dhatu (dhRtarASTra). I belive this is where the calendar was adjusted due to the procession of the equinox , GhaNTAkarNa Gurd or %{gUrd} %{gurdate} or %{gUrd-} , to play , sport , jump Dha1tup: gUrda a jump ('a particular food of the Asuras") %{PrajApater@g-} "the jump of Praja1pati %{gaurA7di}: gurudevata "having Br2ihaspati for its deity" ,the 8Th lunar mansion Pushya the constellation Cancer represents spring prior to summer equinox. The glyph that gave me trouble was the one found on a tin ingot and on the picture side of one plate: gaura white , yellow , shining : gaurava relating or belonging to a Guru or teacher : gaurIcaturthI the 4th day in the bright half month Ma1gh: garuDa devourer , because Garud2a was perhaps originally identified with the all-consuming fire of the sum's rays)N. of a mythical bird (chief of the feathered race , enemy of the serpent-race , Vehicle of Vishn2u) due to the procession of the equinox it was this season that was used to jump as the equinox moves in a retrograde motion this happened every 77years, within the those years that it does not jump Vish2nu rides on the snake Sesha . pages below |
